Plain-English summary

Talesgram holds your photos, locations, captions, and the stories you share with friends. We don't sell that data. We don't use it to train models without explicit consent. We use it to provide the service and to keep the community safe.

What we process

• Account data: name, username, email, password (hashed), birthdate.
• Content: photos, videos, captions, chapter metadata, stories, itineraries.
• Location: EXIF data from photos (you control), live location (only when you explicitly enable, named-people-only, time-bounded).
• Engagement: likes, saves, follows, "use as itinerary" actions.
• Device & telemetry: device type, OS version, error reports (PII-scrubbed).

How we use it

• To provide the service — show you stories, save your trips, sync across devices.
• To keep the community safe — content moderation, anti-spam, anti-harassment.
• To improve the product — aggregated, anonymized analytics.
• To communicate — service emails, feature announcements (you can opt out).

What we don't do

• We don't sell your data.
• We don't share your data with advertisers.
• We don't train ML models on your stories without your explicit opt-in.
• We don't track you across the web.

Sub-processors

• AWS (US, EU) — hosting and storage
• Cloudflare — DNS, CDN, DDoS protection
• Stripe — payments (tokenized; we don't see card numbers)
• Sentry — error monitoring (PII-scrubbed)
• Customer.io — transactional email
• Mapbox — maps and geocoding

Retention

Your stories and itineraries are retained while your account is active. On account deletion, your data is fully deleted within 30 days (with no recovery period). Aggregated, anonymized usage data may be retained longer.

Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data at any time. Export is one tap in account settings. Deletion takes 30 days. Contact privacy@talesgram.com for any data-protection request.

Children

Talesgram requires you to be 13+ to create an account. Under-18 accounts default to private and have additional restrictions on direct messages and discoverability. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please report it.
